Review
Hello dear reader! I know, it has been a while since I've last written but a lot has happened in my life since my last post. Anyway, I hope you are doing well and enjoying spring. I know I am. If you are a returning reader thank you so much for coming back to this page if you are a new member just checking this review out. I hope you like it and come back for more! Just a quick heads up for the new readers I rate my dramas on mainly two categories, story telling and direction. Under Story telling I take into account not just the acting but the writing, and music as well. Under the category direction I consider both editing and direction. I call them my sticky notes because that tends to be what I write my thoughts on when I'm watching.
For story telling I gave Her Private Life an 85% and for direction I gave it a 4/5 on my sticky notes. The acting is great and the story is amusing if anything else. With all of the fan girl craze that is happening with the global blow up of BTS I can totally understand this series. Speaking as a fellow BTS fan (RM is amazing no one can tell me otherwise) I think the interpretations of saseangs to be hilarious even though I know that some of it is true to a certain extent. I gave direction a 4/5 be3cuase I love the placement of the actors and the sceneries shot have been beautiful so far but I have a little bee with all the cliché moments. The director could limit that a little. Although, I am loving the steamy moments.
I can't lie to you. I wasn't much excited for this series. When I read the synopsis I didn't think it would be much of a drama, despite Park Min Young being the main lead. I love Park Min Young and have seen many dramas with her. She always does a great job, even though I personally think that there was something a little lacking in her last project with Park Seo Joon. Basically, despite all of their steamy scenes (which I really appreciated by the way. Way to push the squeaky clean boundaries of K-dramas guys!) I felt there was just a little something missing in their chemistry. Don't get me wrong I really liked the show and I love them but I just felt like they had better chemistry with some of their other costars. Her chemistry with Kim Jae Wook is amazing! There is such fire in their looks. Whoo, there has been a few scenes that have left my heart pumping and nothing has even happened yet!
I also love the comedy in Her Private life. It is definitely a little quirky and I feel that it is a bit satirical to how fans of idols, or any kind of famous person, can be. I think its hilarious, although I'm sure there are people out there who don't appreciate the hilarity in the mock truth.
The music, I have to talk about the music real quick here. I hate the OST. Normally I don't mind the music I can tolerate it, or I absolutely love it, but I can't stand the OST in this series. It's so. . . how do I put this? It sounds like a five year old's cartoon theme song. If you like it, I'm sorry. It is only an opinion. This is one of the reasons why I gave the story telling only an 85%.
Anyway, that is my take away from Her Private Life. I hope you give this a chance despite my dislike of the OST I find the show to be lovable, even rewatchable. The series is available on Viki.com if you are not a member of the viki standard pass you may have to wait a couple of weeks for the episdoes to be available to you. If you are episodes are uploaded almost immediately. By the way, Viki.com is a free site unless you pay for viki standard or plus. Make a comment below tell me what you think if the series. I would love to hear from you.
I’m watching it!!!! I was going to write review. It’s only been four episodes and I normally try to wait for the mid point to see where things are progressing to write reviews. So, one is coming!
Yes, I agree with the whole “brother” thing. It was the last straw for me. Mind you, could I write a decent script or come up with a good storyline? No, not on your nelly!
That being said, I am thoroughly enjoying Angels Last Mission: Love. The whole cold woman (former ballerina that regains her eyesight) versus warm angel (has become mortal due to saving her life) is a delightful watch. They really are bouncing off each other as characters and give as good as they get.
I was enjoying it as well up until they had her “brother” confess. I understand it was for the drama but I think it was unnecessary and it hurt their relationship. I don’t care if he’s the second lead, they could have just left it unsaid. I also don’t like the fact that they haven’t tried to patch that relationship. I haven’t seen the episodes for the past week, so maybe they did. I don’t know. It had a good start.
Alas, Her Private Life was not for me! I tried, but I gave it away at episode 10. There was nothing wrong with the acting or the characters. Yes, the comedic elements are good and some of my favourite actors are in this show. However, overall, I found the story just didn’t grab me. As another reviewer recently pointed out: it is a show aimed at not the likes of me 😊
